Don’t Give Up On The Trail

You're blazing a trail.

There are a number of people who have been laboring hard in the Kingdom for some time now, and have been wondering, “Where are my co-laborers? Where are the others who are called to this work with me?”

If they are not careful, they’ll find themselves getting discouraged. “I’m out here, all alone.”

Elijah did it. “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”

But the truth is that there’s a reason that you’re feeling alone in the work: you’re blazing the trail for others to follow, and the trail isn't ready yet. Until you finish the trail, they can’t get to you, they can’t reach you until the trail is complete.

Don’t fall victim to the lie that says you’re the only one left. It wasn’t true in Elijah’s time, and it’s not true in yours. There are many others out there. But some of the ones that are nearest to you are cutting their own trails; they’re not helping you cut yours.

You do rest sometimes from the hard work of cutting trail, right? So take that time to make friends with other trailblazers nearby. Have a barbecue or a potluck dinner, and invite some people over. Get to know others who are doing the same kind of work you’re doing. Learn from them. Share how you’re doing. Maybe pray for each other.

But don’t give up on the trail. There’s a lot of people back there, looking to follow the trail you’re blazing, or one of your co-laborers. And they can’t come and settle the new territory until the trail is cut. Don’t give up on your work.
